Jeffrey Fairbairn (Jeff) is the Managing Director of UPS Pty. Ltd. and is based in Sydney, Australia. Jeff is responsible for the management of the company in Australia, as well as New Zealand, this includes, marketing, business development, finance & accounting, as well as the day-to-day operations.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Fairbairn has undertaken two offshore postings with UPS. From 1997 to 2001, Jeff was President Director of United Parcel Service’s joint venture company in Indonesia. Stationed in Jakarta he was instrumental in growing the business and expanding the reach of UPS across the Indonesian archipelago. Jeff was challenged to ensure that the quality of service and the high levels of integrity set out by UPS in its global operation were met.
In 2001, Jeff moved his family to India and set up home in Mumbai. His new assignment was to head another UPS joint venture. This joint venture had just commenced in India and between 2001 and when Jeff relocated back to Australia in Feb 2004, the Indian operation had expanded significantly across the country and had implemented service in 16 Indian cities.
Mr. Fairbairn joined United Parcel Service in 1992 in Melbourne as the Victorian State Manager – aggressively building the business to that of a major competitor. Six years later, he was given the responsibility to head the company’s operations in Indonesia.
Prior to this he has worked with TNT in various divisions. He has been in supervisory roles and has established offices and business in various countries. His experience spans over two decades in various regions such as Papua New Guinea, Sydney, Pacific Islands, Brisbane and Melbourne. Mr. Fairbairn’s experience in the express package industry spans 3 decades when in 1974 he began sorting packages in a TNT centre in Sydney
